On Sunday, the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Jayden Jeremiah Jefferies, 17, has been booked into the Chesterfield County Detention Center.
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division charged Jefferies with murder, possession of a weapon during a deadly crime, and additional penalty for a concealable weapon, as he was not eligible at 17 for a concealed weapons permit.
On Friday night, Jefferies got into an argument with Sean Davis, 17, at the Pageland Watermelon Festival. Jefferies said he pulled a .22 caliber handgun from his waistband and fired several times. Davis was shot in the chest and died as a result of the injury.
